An outstanding and important industrial site, upon which had a profound effect upon the landscape and trade of Chester, the Dee Mills have now been researched in depth by Roy Wilding. The result is a fascinating mix of social history for both Chester and Handbridge, as well as a detailed look at many of the 'wares' produced at the mills. The history of fishing on the Dee makes an interesting backdrop to the scene. 'Soke rights', dishonest millers, legal claims and some of Chester's technological 'firsts' are brought to the reader's attention together with a wealth of maps and photos.
